Rodney Stephan walked through the main doors of the headquarters building of General Spaceship of Mystik and across to the very center of the lobby.

“Hey, everybody. Watch this,” he called out.

The dozen or so people in the lobby turned to watch as Rodney Stephan lifted the pistol to his temple and shot himself in the head.

Consternation

“You’re evil, you know that?” Dent asked as the limo headed for downtown.

“What? For suggesting to a hired killer that he off himself instead? I thought it was brilliant.”

“Oh, it was. And evil.”

Mangum shrugged.

“Hired killer. Kills people he doesn’t even know in cold blood for money. Lowest life-form there is.”

Dent nodded. She couldn’t argue with that.

“But I think we’ll get Evelyn Barnes’ attention,” she said.

“Yes. I hope she does something phenomenally stupid.”

Dent turned to Sam, still sitting in the back seat. She scratched his head and ruffled his ears.

“Good boy. Such a good dog.”

Sam wagged his tail.
